A Note From Jim Staley
If you have grown up in church like I did, and are familiar with just about every doctrine out there that your particular church taught (like I was)…then you were probably not encouraged to ask a whole lot of questions about those “sacred cows” of theology. Unfortunately, because most of us only hear one side of an issue our whole lives from the pulpit and that one side seems well documented, we don't even entertain the thought of the possibility of it not being completely accurate. A careful examination of my own beliefs has found me digging into the culture, language, history, nuances and beliefs of the characters and authors of the Bible to find the pure meaning of the scriptures. And through those times of intense studies, God has revealed to me parts of my belief system that is not quite Biblical, and other parts that were flat out doctrine and traditions of men.
At first, it was shocking to find things that I had believed for my whole life, to not be completely accurate. There are emotional ties to beliefs structures that all of us grew up with. But as the Lord led me further, He began to show me that there is a whole world of truths that have been slowly changed over time from one generation to the next. It was very difficult in the beginning for me to even believe that it was possible for anything that I believed to be untrue. But as time went on, God has taught me that there is nothing that I need to fear. If what I believed in was true, then it would stand any test. If it wasn't, then I would be freed from something that was false and be better because of it as it would take hours in the Word to uncover the truth. In either case, I would learn that it would be a win-win situation. In either case, I would grow closer to God by studying His word.
I believe that God is calling His people worldwide back to the beginning to start over and find out where we went wrong in order to worship God in Spirit and in TRUTH. I don't believe there is any debate that the state of the church does not have the power that it once was endowed with by our savior Himself. I believe that God is teaching all those that are truly seeking Him how to worship Him in that Spirit and Truth, the way He originally intended. And I believe over time, the true church will emerge out of the rubble and the power that once changed the world will once again be unleashed through the people of God. There is no doubt that you will probably read things on this website that you will strongly disagree with at first. It is vital that you do not allow your emotions to lead you, but allow the information to be put on the stand and evaluated on the basis of fact only. I strongly encourage you to read and study from a non-bias mindset everything on this website and everywhere for that matter. If you find yourself disagreeing with ANYTHING on this website, please go to the forum area and state your case there. But...PLEASE...lay aside your emotions and only state substance.
There are only two sides in life: TRUTH and NON-TRUTH. It is not my side and yours. So, if you find anything that you can prove is non-truth, I give you my word that it will be removed immediately. Otherwise, may God remain true and every man a liar. (Rom. 3:4) For those that are really seeking God, we are all on the same team. Too often we let pride get in the way and the whole team suffers. The two ingredients for spiritual growth are humility and a Passion For Truth. Too often people visit this site with a zeal for truth, but lack the humility that it takes to even consider the possibility that there current truth might not be truth at all. It is my prayer that godly dialogue will re-enter the "walls" of the church and the whole "church" will be in benefit.
In conclusion, I want to make it very clear that I very much support the church of God and am very active in my local church. But I also want to make it clear that the "church" is not a system or a building. It is the real believers in Christ committed to doing Bible things in Bible ways and calling Bible things by Bible names. I am committed to the body of Christ and will spend the rest of my life doing my best to edify its members and challenging its precepts. All with the hope of doing my part to present a more spotless bride at the call of the bridegroom. It is my desire that this website will be an asset in your spiritual growth, and over time, you will develop a PASSION FOR TRUTH.
We would also like to invite all you ladies (sorry guys!) to pull up a comfy chair or a rocker on our big ole country porch and schmooze to your hearts content. Share a word, a thought, a verse - or a recipe! Laugh a little, cry a bit, and reach out - we're here to help. Although none of us have all the answers, we can all learn from each other! So come on over and set a spell!
